EXPEDITION OMAN 2026
From dune to wadi:
off-grid expedition in the Middle East
Imagine: endless sand dunes, narrow canyons, dry riverbeds, rocky plateaus, and a landscape that is constantly changing. An environment that challenges, slows down, and sharpens you.
During Expedition Oman, it feels as if you are stepping into another world - a place where heat, emptiness, and variety force you to be present, where every choice matters, and where the variation in terrain confronts you with yourself and the group.

The story of
this expedition
From Brussels, you fly to Muscat. Upon arrival, we venture deeper into the interior with a sturdy 4x4 ride, away from cities and infrastructure. There, where asphalt gives way to sand and stone, the expedition begins. From that moment on, we move completely off-grid, in accordance with the landscape that surrounds us.
The journey takes us through various desert landscapes of Oman, with alternating movements on foot, by 4x4, and on camels, each adjusted to the terrain, distance, and group dynamics.
We start on foot through sand dunes and open plains where every step requires energy. Further on, wadi’s cut through the landscape: dry riverbeds that provide cooling but also require cooperation and pace adjustment. Rocky terrain demands focus and conscious placement of each step.
The physical intensity is real: temperatures up to 35°C, but the variation in terrain makes each day different. Once you find your rhythm, you feel how the landscape disconnects you from ordinary life.
In this landscape, fixed paths are rare. Navigation is done with limited resources, a sense of orientation, and teamwork. The environment is constantly changing: sand becomes stone, openness becomes enclosure, emptiness becomes relief. You learn to cope with heat, energy management, and making choices under varying conditions. Leadership becomes tangible and shifts naturally, depending on the moment and context. Every decision has direct consequences for the group.
As the sun sets, we set up camp together. Sometimes sheltered, sometimes completely open. No fixed structures, no unnecessary luxury. The nights are quiet. The starry sky is immense. Sleeping in this environment brings both peace and clarity: you feel how the world becomes larger and you smaller, but at the same time clearer and stronger.
We consciously choose this period because Oman is warm enough to experience its full intensity, but without the extreme summer heat. During the day, you feel the power of the landscape with temperatures around 30-35°C: pure desert and wadi feeling, without scorching conditions.
Self-sufficient -
but never alone
As soon as we start, we find ourselves off-grid. We filter water from rivers, cook our freeze-dried expedition food, and set up our camps in places where nature allows.
You learn survival basics, energy management, navigation, and outdoor decision-making under the guidance of an experienced X- Guide whom you meet well in advance during the preparation process.
Safety & guidance
Safety is the foundation of every Element X expedition. Our X-Guides are professionally trained, hold WFR certificates, and have years of experience in extreme conditions.
Each expedition is equipped with satellite phones, GPS tracking, clear safety procedures, a detailed evacuation plan, and local support in Oman.
Before departure, we also conduct a thorough risk analysis and prepare everything meticulously.
No one steps
unprepared into
the unknown.
The preparation process
(min. 3 - 6 months in advance)
always consists of:
