EXPEDITION HIMALAYA | OCTOBER & NOVEMBER 2027
To the highest mountains on earth
Trek through the Khumbu to the ascent of a six thousand metre peak, in sight of Everest.
The story of this expedition
From Brussels you fly to Kathmandu. A short domestic flight brings you to one of the most spectacular runways in the world, and from there everything happens on foot. No more roads, only trails that have served for centuries as a trade route between Nepal and Tibet. For sixteen days you climb higher, grow quieter, and the greatest mountain range on earth slowly draws closer.
We travel through villages where yaks are the only means of transport, across suspension bridges above deep gorges and past monasteries clinging to the rock face. Every day you climb a little higher, and every day the air gets thinner.
The Khumbu is not only mountains, it is also a culture. Prayer flags, mani stones and centuries old monasteries where monks invite you in for tea. It makes for an expedition that is not only physical but distinctly contemplative.
After acclimatisation comes the climb itself: crampons on, roped up, high camp set. Summit day starts in the middle of the night and takes you above six thousand metres, with views of some of the highest peaks on earth, Everest among them.
We deliberately choose October and November: the window after the monsoon, with the clearest skies of the year, stable weather and the best views of the great peaks.

Self-sufficient,
but never alone
At altitude you carry your own gear, share the tasks in camp and take your responsibility within the rope team. Supported by a Sherpa team that knows these mountains like no one else.
You learn to climb slowly so your body can keep up, and to climb with crampons and rope on the summit day, guided by an experienced X- Guide whom you meet well in advance during the preparation programme.
Safety & guidance
Safety is the foundation of every Element X expedition. Our X Guides are professionally trained, hold WFR certificates and have years of experience in extreme conditions.
Every expedition has satellite phones, GPS tracking, daily health checks with oxygen saturation measurement, safety procedures, an evacuation plan with helicopter cover and local support in Nepal.
Before departure we also carry out a thorough risk analysis and prepare everything down to the last detail.
Guided by real expedition leaders.
You step into nature, away from the
beaten track, but always with the certainty of experienced guidance
and safety first.

We let no one step into the unknown unprepared.
An expedition of this calibre starts months in advance. The preparation programme consists of an individual phase and a group phase.
Individual phase
Starts immediately after registration. You receive an inspiration pack with practical tips, insights and exercises to start moving like an expedition member. You gather your expedition gear using the packing list (do not buy anything yet: bring what you already have to the kick off). And you share your medical information, because the best preparation is a plan for when things go wrong.
Group phase
Starts 3 to 6 months before departure with the kick off: a full day on which you meet your team, taste the expedition atmosphere and take the first steps as a group. There we plan the follow-up moments together and the WhatsApp group starts. Training includes, among other things: getting to know the group and roles, physical screening and analysis, a personalised training schedule, technical and resilience training, gear, nutrition and sleep setup, and a final check.

As seen in

Imagine this: prayer flags snapping in the wind above a five thousand metre pass, yaks with bells coming towards you on a narrow trail, and a sunrise that turns the summit of Everest orange while the valley still lies in darkness.
On Expedition Himalaya you not only climb higher than ever before: you also step into a culture in which mountains are not obstacles but gods, and in which patience is the most valuable skill you can possess.

Frequently asked questions
This expedition asks for a strong physical base, but you do not need to be an elite athlete. Through our preparation programme (screening, training schedule and focused training sessions) we build your level up to expedition standard over 3 to 6 months. We teach you the technique with crampons and rope.
We build in generous acclimatisation and follow a schedule that deliberately climbs slowly. Daily health checks with oxygen saturation measurement, WFR certified guidance and an evacuation plan with helicopter cover are standard.
The full expedition programme, gear, permits, workshops, guidance, all local costs and meals are included, plus the full 3 to 6 month preparation programme. International flights, personal clothing and insurance are not included.
