Survive in the wilderness
​You’ll learn to navigate using only a compass, make fire with basic tools, melt snow for drinking water and make your own snowshoes from scratch, using materials sourced from the natural environment.
Craft your own snow shelter
Using nothing but the surrounding snow and basic tools, you'll build your own snow cave. It’s a rare opportunity to embrace nature’s elements while learning how to thrive in them. Once your snow cave is complete, you'll settle in for a night unlike any other - beneath the dancing lights of the Northern Lights.

Hi, I’m Koen De Leeuw, a seasoned expedition leader and survival expert with a background in elite military training. As a former Para Commando, I’ve developed my survival and leadership skills in some of the harshest environments on earth.
My certification as a Wilderness First Responder ensures that safety is always the top priority, no matter how remote or challenging the setting. You might know me as the expedition leader on the TV series 'De Expeditie,' where I guided celebrities through some of the world’s most unforgiving terrains.

Training starts 3 months before the expedition, including briefings, survival skills, fitness assessments, and gear checks. Regular sessions will build confidence for the Arctic wilderness.
04. Expedition
You’ll have to escape from the Arctic wilderness under expert guidance, applying your survival skills - building snow caves, and melting snow for water - while we ensure everything is safe.
05. Reflection
At the end of the expedition, we gather one last time to reflect on the journey. It’s a moment to share your personal growth and unforgettable experiences, with a special surprise to celebrate.

Preparation for the expedition starts 3 months prior to the expedition and includes:

Introduction and briefing: You’ll receive a detailed briefing about the expedition, including gear overview, safety protocols, itinerary, and what to expect in the Arctic wilderness.

Sports analysis and personalized training plan: We’ll conduct a sports analysis and provide a 6-week personalized training plan to ensure you’re physically prepared for the expedition.

Technical and physical training: Learn hands-on winter survival skills, such as building snow shelters, making fire, and navigating through snowfields. Group training will build team dynamics essential for the wilderness.

Gear check and final briefing: A full gear check and final briefing will ensure everything is ready before departure. We’ll also review fitness and answer any last-minute questions.
