EXPEDITION PATAGONIA 2027
To the end
of the world
Imagine: snow-capped mountain peaks, vast valleys and a landscape that feels completely uninhabited. You cross rivers, carry your packraft through rough terrain and move for days through an environment where animals have hardly any human contact.
During Expedition Patagonia, you trek from high mountains and glaciers to lakes, rivers and ultimately cold, dense rainforest. The terrain constantly changes, the distance to the inhabited world grows each day and nature sets the rhythm - grand, unpredictable and entirely self-sufficient.

The story of
this expedition
From Brussels, you travel to the south of Chile. After arrival, we head further inland, away from roads and infrastructure, until we leave the inhabited world behind. From then on, we are completely off-grid and reliant on what we bring with us and organise along the way.
For three weeks, we will be self-sufficient as we traverse a remote and highly varied landscape of mountains, glaciers, lakes, rivers and cold rainforest. The terrain constantly changes and requires adjustments in route, pace and planning. The vast, unpredictable environment determines the rhythm and choices of the expedition each day.
We trek on foot through a landscape that is constantly changing. From open steppes to densely populated rainforest, from muddy passages to steep mountain ridges, from glacier tongues to wide valleys where you won't see another person for days. It is physically demanding, mentally sharpening, and every step takes you further from the ordinary.
With your packraft, you cross crystal-clear lakes, navigate through channels between rainforest and rock faces, and traverse icy glacial rivers. Water is everywhere - and determines the pace and choices every day.
Patagonia is known for its raw fluctuations. Sun, mist, and rain can occur within the span of an hour. That is what makes it so intense: you learn to make decisions, cope with uncertainty, and trust your team - essential skills that you learn nowhere else as sharply as here.
We consciously choose January: the window in which Patagonia is most accessible. Fewer extreme storms, longer days, and just enough stability - because there is already abundant unpredictability as a natural law.

You step into nature, away from the
beaten paths, but always with the assurance of experienced guidance
and safety that comes first.
Safety & guidance
Safety is the foundation of every Element X expedition. Our X-Guides are professionally trained, hold WFR certificates, and have years of experience in extreme conditions.
Every expedition is equipped with satellite phones, GPS tracking, clear safety procedures, a detailed evacuation plan, and local support in Patagonia.
Before departure, we also conduct a thorough risk analysis and prepare everything meticulously.
Self-sufficient -
but never alone
Once we start, we are
off-grid. We filter water from rivers, cook our freeze-dried expedition food, and set up our camps in places where nature allows.
You learn survival basics, energy management, navigation, and outdoor decision-making under the guidance of an experienced X-Guide whom you will meet well in advance during the preparation process.
We do not let anyone step
into the unknown unprepared.
The preparation process (min. 3 - 6 months in advance) always consists of:
a group briefing with physical analysis
a personalised training schedule
technical and resilience training
a session on equipment, nutrition and sleep setup
a final physical check-in
