The story of this expedition

This micro expedition is made for anyone interested in an Element X expedition who would like to taste our approach first. You are dropped in the French Ardennes and work your way through the terrain with map, compass and packraft. You experience how we guide, how a group works together under pressure and what an expedition really asks of you. By the end you know whether you are ready for the real thing.

Map and compass, and a geocache system that hands you the next leg of the route each time. Physically demanding, mentally sharp, and an immediate test of how you operate in a group.

At the river you unpack the packraft. Over and under obstacles, with the group. Teamwork is not a choice here, it is the only way to move forward.

Making fire with a fire steel, filtering drinking water and sleeping under a tarp. And in the evening a surprising menu by our private outdoor chef around the fire. This is not camping food.

A micro expedition in April: crisp enough to really feel it, and the ideal moment to decide whether you want to join a full expedition later on.

Self-sufficient,
but never alone

Once we start, we are off-grid. We filter our drinking water along the way, sleep under a tarp and set up camp where the terrain allows. We cook together with our private outdoor chef, who puts a full menu together over an open fire.

Je proeft van survival basics, navigatie en samenwerken onder druk, onder begeleiding van een ervaren X- Guide die je ter plaatse leert kennen. Je krijgt vooraf een online briefing en een duidelijke paklijst.

Veiligheid & begeleiding

Safety is the basis of every Element X expedition. Our X Guides are professionally trained, hold WFR certificates and have years of experience in extreme conditions. Exactly the calibre of guidance an expedition like this requires.

Every expedition has satellite phones, GPS tracking, clear safety procedures, a detailed evacuation plan and support on site.

Before departure

1. Self-sufficient
2. Veiligheid & begeleiding

Guided by real expedition leaders.

You step into nature, away from the
beaten track, but always with the certainty of experienced guidance
and safety first.

We let no one step into the unknown unprepared.

For this micro expedition too we do not let you leave unprepared. You receive an online briefing and a clear packing list in advance, so you know what to expect.

Before departure. You receive the online briefing, the packing list and all practical information. Any kit you do not have, we bring along. You also share your medical information and dietary needs.

On site. We start with a short introduction and a safety briefing, and then the micro expedition begins. Our guides stay with the group throughout.

This micro expedition is the entry point. Not a non-committal team building day, but an honest introduction to our approach and to yourself.

Imagine: a bivouac deep in the forest, a fire burning, and a group that after two days feels like a team.

Over this micro expedition you get a taste of everything that characterises an Element X expedition: navigation, packrafting, bushcraft, guidance and a group of like-minded people. On a smaller scale, but with the same approach.
